Emerging from a collaboration between the History Department and the Brown University Library, the Initiative on Sexualities and Genders (ISG) cultivates intellectual community and builds research capacity among scholars of LGBTQ Studies who engage with archival methods in the interpretive social sciences at Brown and beyond.

The Initiative on Sexualities and Genders is an incubator for emerging scholarship in LGBTQ Studies at Brown and beyond.

The Initiative in Sexualities and Genders activates archives, manuscripts, and special collections held at the John Hay Library to build a scholarly community and support emerging and critical research methods in LGBTQ studies through exhibitions, courses, public lectures, hands-on workshops, and seminars.
