Gay at the Hay

This public lecture series showcases the best new scholarship in LGBTQ History by inviting scholars to be in conversation with archival materials held in the Global Lavender Voices collections at the John Hay Library. After each lecture, participants are invited to explore a curated selection of archival materials in the Hay’s Primary Source Lab.

Pockets of Pleasure: Gathering Global Lavender Voices Exhibition

Global Lavender Voices collections are highlighted in a forthcoming exhibition, curated by Leo Lovemore, Co-Director of ISG and Librarian for History, Society, and Culture. Pockets of Pleasure: Gathering Global Lavender Voices invites intimate encounters with GLV collections, asking us to consider how themes of pleasure, care, intimacy, desire, and resistance have shaped what we can (and cannot) know about queer pasts and what we might imagine for queer futures.

The exhibition opens in April 2027 in the first-floor gallery of the John Hay Library.
